I adore history, especially historical buildings. Does anyone else? Anytime my family would take family vacations and we would enter into historical buildings in places like Colonial Williamsburg, or The Breakers in Rhode Island my mind would go back in time to the lives of the people who walked the same streets or danced in ballrooms I was currently standing in. It’s no wonder then, after attempting to find ‘home’ in modern apartments and new construction communities, that I would end up living in a home that is more than 100 years old.
I loved the feeling walking into my [now] home, knowing I was walking into a home that had a story. My family and I were now part of that story and would be able to put our unique fingerprint on this home for years to come.
It’s no wonder (for various reasons) that I ended up moving into a historical city, full of a rich past and a modern future.
I admire historical and modern architecture and various styles of interior design. I guess I would have my mom to thank for that. Growing up she would always take us kiddos to various open houses and on the weekends she would draft her dream homes. My sister and I would be her audience as she would go step by step and room by room of her latest and greatest design. We would dream right along with her as she painted a picture of the perfect house we dreamed of calling our home. So thanks, Mom, for instilling in me an appreciation for architecture and design!
